Network Lifetime and Throughput Analysis in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Fuzzy Logic

Abstract:


Wireless sensor networks recently most prominent area in research. Energy consumption is one of the important challenges in wireless sensor networks. Objective of this paper is to increase the network lifetime and throughput of the wireless sensor network. Fuzzy logic approach is used to improve the network lifetime and throughput. Proposed approach gave better results as comparison to existing approaches. Low Energy Fuzzy Based Unequal Clustering Multi-hop Architecture (LEFUCMA) and Low Energy Adaptive Unequal Clustering Using Fuzzy C-Means (LAUCF) approaches have been used in the research paper. Proposed approach is better 11.39 % in terms of network lifetime in comparison of LEFUCMA and 34.27 % in terms of network lifetime in comparison of LAUCF. Proposed approach is better 34.29 % in terms of network throughput in comparison of LEFUCMA and 112.85 % in terms of network throughput in comparison to LAUCF. It is concluded that proposed approach may further help the scientist in reducing the network lifetime and throughput for wireless sensor networks (WSNs).
